The Staff Selection Commission Exam (SSC) is conducted by the SSC organization under the Indian Government to recruit staff for diverse posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. SSC conducts different competitive examinations for different posts every year. The examination, a candidate appear for will depend on his or her educational qualifications and the post the candidate wishes to apply for. More than 15 lakhs students give the entrance exam every year.

SSC Eligibility Criteria

The Candidate preparing for the SSC exam must be an Indian national who has passed graduation from a recognized Indian board or university. The age limit for different posts under SSC varies accordingly (usually 18-30).

SSC Exam Pattern

SSC exam is conducted in 3 stages. The candidate is selected on the basis of the performance in 3 these as given below:

Stage – I: Written Examination (MCQs), 2 hours duration (200 marks)

Stage – II: Written Examination (MCQs), 2 hours duration (800 marks)

Stage – III: Computer Proficiency Test / Skill Test

A new paper IV has been added to the SSC Exam consisting of General Studies- Finance and Economics. However, it is only applicable for students who want to appear for the position of Assistant Audit Officer.

SSC Exam Syllabus

Stage I SSC exam is based on the subjects like Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension.

Stage II SSC exam is based on topics like General Studies, Statistics, Quantitative skills and Language.

SSC Exam Schedule

The SSC exam is conducted region wise at different intervals, throughout the year at various regional centres across the country. The dates for the SSC exam are notified online on the official website. The application process usually begins in March.
