Provincial Civil Service (PCS)

PCS short for Provincial Civil Service also known as Uttar Pradesh Civil Service (Executive branch) is an exam conducted by UPPSC (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission) to recruit Group 'A' and 'B' officers into the executive branch of the Uttar Pradesh State Government. For maintenance of law and order and revenue administration, PCS officers hold posts at different levels such as district, divisional, and sub-divisional.

PCS exam is conducted in three phases:

Preliminary round
Main exam
Personality test

Should be a citizen of India

21 years to 40 years

Educational Qualification

Should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from any university recognized by the Government of India.

Assistant Controller Legal Measurement (Grade-I)/Assistant Controller Legal Measurement (Grade-II)	Degree in Science with Physics or Mechanical Engineering as one subject
Assistant Director Industries (Marketing), Assistant Director Industries (Handloom)	Post Graduate Degree in Arts, Science or Commerce or Technology pr Post Graduate Degree in Textile Industries of any recognized Institute or minimum Graduation Degree in Textile Technology
Assistant Labour Commissioner	Degree in Arts with Sociology or Economics as a subject in Commerce/Law
District Programme Officer	Degree in Sociology or Social Science or Home Science or Social Work
Senior Lecturer, DIET	Post Graduate Degree with B.Ed/
District Probation Officer	Post Graduate Degree in Psychology or Sociology or Social Work or any qualification equivalent thereto or Post Graduate Diploma in any Branch of Social Work from any recognized Institute of Social
Designated Officer/ Food Safety Officer	1. Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry as one of the subjects from a University established by law in India or a qualification recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto, or 2. At least one of the qualification prescribed for Direct Recruitment to the post of Food Safety Officer given as below: A Bachelor's degree in Food Technology of Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Sciences or Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology or Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry or Degree in Medicine from a recognized university. Provided that no person who has any financial interest in the manufacture, import or sale of any article of food shall be appointed to be a Food Safety Officer.
Statistical Officer	Post Graduate Degree in mathematics or Mathematical Statistics or Statistics or Agricultural Statistics from a university recognized by Law in India or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
Information Officer/ District Information Officer/ Script Writer/ Feature Writers/ Incharge, English	A) Essential Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree with Hindi as one of the subjects from a University established by law in India or a degree recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto. Diploma in Journalism or 5 Years Journalistic experience. B) Preferential Qualifications: Experience of writing articles, scripts and features in the newspapers and magazines. Bachelor Degree in Journalism from a University established by law in India or any Institution recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto. Diploma in Music/Lighting/Acting/Direction etc. from any institute recognized by the Government.
Principals, Government Intermediate Colleges (For both boys and girls)	1. A Post-graduate degree from a University established by law in India or a degree recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto. 2. L.T. Diploma of the Department of Education, Uttar Pradesh, or B.T. or B.Ed. or an equivalent Degree of a University. At least three years of teaching experience in High School or Intermediate Classes or Classes higher than above from a College or University established by law in India or any such Institution recognized by the Government.
Labour Enforcement Officer	Bachelor's degree with Economics or Sociology or commerce and Post Graduate Diploma or Post Graduate Degree in Law/ LAbour relation/ Labour welfare/ Labour law/ Commerce/ Sociology/ Social work/ Social welfare/ Trade Management/ Personal management.
Distt. Horticulture Officer Group-2 Grade-1	B.Sc Agriculture/B.Sc Horticulture Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
Extension Service Officer Group-2	B.Sc or B.Sc. (Ag.) followed by 15-month Post-graduate Diploma Course from Government FRuit Preservation and Canning Institute, Lucknow or any other recognized Institute, or 3 years diploma in Hotel management and catering from a recognized Institute, or M.Sc. in Food Technology, or M.Sc. Degree in Horticulture, with special paper in Food Processing.

PAPER 1	History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian geography, World geography, Current events, General issues on environmental ecology, climate change, biodiversity, constitution, Indian polity, Governance, Political system, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues, sustainable development, demographics, economic and social development, and general science.
PAPER 2	General English and Hindi (up to class 10), comprehension, interpersonal skills, communication skills, decision making, problem-solving, logical reasoning, analytical ability, general mental ability, and elementary mathematics (up to class 10).
