Provincial Civil Service (PCS)

PCS short for Provincial Civil Service also known as Uttar Pradesh Civil Service (Executive branch) is an exam conducted by UPPSC (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission) to recruit Group 'A' and  'B' officers into the executive branch of the Uttar Pradesh State Government. For maintenance of law and order and revenue administration, PCS officers hold posts at different levels such as district, divisional, and sub-divisional. 

PCS exam is conducted in three phases:

  1. Preliminary round
  2. Main exam
  3. Personality test

1. Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry as one of the subjects from a University established by law in India or a qualification recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto, or

2. At least one of the qualification prescribed for Direct Recruitment to the post of Food Safety Officer given as below:

A Bachelor's degree in Food Technology of Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Sciences or Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology or Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry or Degree in Medicine from a recognized university.

Provided that no person who has any financial interest in the manufacture, import or sale of any article of food shall be appointed to be a Food Safety Officer.

Statistical OfficerPost Graduate Degree in mathematics or Mathematical Statistics or Statistics or Agricultural Statistics from a university recognized by Law in India or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
Information Officer/ District Information Officer/ Script Writer/ Feature Writers/ Incharge, English

A) Essential Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's Degree with Hindi as one of the subjects from a University established by law in India or a degree recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto.
  2. Diploma in Journalism or 5 Years Journalistic experience.

B) Preferential Qualifications:

  1. Experience of writing articles, scripts and features in the newspapers and magazines.
  2. Bachelor Degree in Journalism from a University established by law in India or any Institution recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto.

Diploma in Music/Lighting/Acting/Direction etc. from any institute recognized by the Government.


Principals, Government Intermediate Colleges (For both boys and girls)

1. A Post-graduate degree from a University established by law in India or a degree recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto.

2. L.T. Diploma of the Department of Education, Uttar Pradesh, or B.T. or B.Ed. or an equivalent Degree of a University.

At least three years of teaching experience in High School or Intermediate Classes or Classes higher than above from a College or University established by law in India or any such Institution recognized by the Government.

Labour Enforcement OfficerBachelor's degree with Economics or Sociology or commerce and Post Graduate Diploma or Post Graduate Degree in Law/ LAbour relation/ Labour welfare/ Labour law/ Commerce/ Sociology/ Social work/ Social welfare/ Trade Management/ Personal management.
Distt. Horticulture Officer Group-2 Grade-1B.Sc Agriculture/B.Sc Horticulture Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
Extension Service Officer Group-2

B.Sc or B.Sc. (Ag.) followed by 15-month Post-graduate  Diploma Course from Government FRuit Preservation and Canning Institute, Lucknow or any other recognized Institute, or 3 years diploma in Hotel management and catering from a recognized Institute, or M.Sc. in Food Technology, or

M.Sc. Degree in Horticulture, with special paper in Food Processing.
