Candidates can arrange an IELTS test by selecting their preferred IELTS exam date and nearby test centre location. The paper-based IELTS exam is administered four times every month. Time Slots:

Though the examination date is not fixed the time of the sessions is fixed. IELTS occurs in three sessions or slots meaning you can appear in any of them. They are as mentioned below

  • 9 am to 12 pm

  • 1 pm to 4 pm

  • 5 pm to 8 pm 

IELTS 2024 Results:

The result date depends on your examination date as it gets out on the 13th day after your examination day. So, if you have taken your test on 1, you will receive the result on the 13th.

Eligibility Criteria to Appear for IELTS

Knowing the eligibility criteria for an examination is very important. Generally, the criteria stay the same each year. The details are as follows: 

Age:

There is no specific age to appear for IELTS 2024. It does not matter what your age is, if you know English and have a valid reason to move abroad, you are good to go. 

Academic Qualification:

In this case as well, there are no specific parameters. People have different reasons for moving abroad and the qualifications depend on their reasons. Suppose, a graduate is seeking to get his master’s degree from abroad, he must be a graduate from a reputed university with marks accepted by the university he is applying for. 


However, It is always beneficial to have the minimum education meaning a person should be 12th pass to appear. 

Attempts:

Applicants can take the exam as many times as they please. 

Passing Marks:

The IELTS marking system is calculated in bands. Applicants must score above 6 bands out of 10. However, the criteria can also vary for students as some universities have their own band specifications to accept students. 

IELTS 2024 Application Process

You don’t need the help of anyone to get yourself registered for the IELTS 2024. Here is a step-by-step process elaborated for you.


Step 1:

First, visit the site https://www.ieltsidpindia.com/. You will find the information regarding the examination here. After that you will see several tabs above, click on “Register of IELTS.”


Step 2:

A new page will open where you will see a section named “Register for IELTS.” Options like city, test city, and test type will be there. 


Step 3:

You need to click on the drop-down arrow of each section to choose a suitable city, time, and exam type. After that, press the “Book Now” button. 


Step 4:

After that, you will be directed to another new page where you have to choose a specific date and time slot and again click on the “Book Now” button. After that, the registration process begins. 


Step 5:

Now, you will see that you have finished the first step of the registration process which is providing personal details. After that, you need to follow the below-mentioned steps:

  • Document Upload

  • RO Details

  • Fee Payment


Once you clear one step, you will be directed to the next.

Types of IELTS Exam 2024

There are a total of 4 types of IELTS exams. Applicants should choose according to their purpose of moving abroad. If someone is going for higher education, the test type will be different than someone going for professional reasons. 

IELTS Academic:

As it is very evident from the name, this type of IELTS exam is for students. The questions will be more academic-centric than general. It will test your capability of learning in a place where the first language is English. 


IELTS General Training:

This type is open to all. Students seeking school education and working professionals seeking jobs abroad are eligible to take the test. Please note that students willing to receive higher educationabroad musto take the IELTS Academic. 


IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration:

Those individuals who want to move specifically to the United Kingdom. Remember, from students to working professionals, everyone willing to move to the UK must take this exam, not the other two mentioned above.


IELTS Life Skills:

Individuals who need to improve their English to get the Visa, have to take this test. There are two types of it:


A1: It is for those who are applying for a “family of a settled person visa.” It means that they are moving abroad to visit their family. 

A2: People who want an indefinite permission to remain or permanent visa. 


Exam Pattern (IELTS 2024)

IELTS has four parts, writing, listening, speaking, and reading. Here is what you will be asked to do in each test.


Writing

In this session, candidates need to elaborate on a graphic and write on a topic in 150-200 words.

Listening 

In this session, candidates will be answering 40 questions in 30 minutes based on the audio they will listen to. 

Reading

Candidates will be asked to read a paragraph and answer related 40 questions in 60 minutes.

Speaking

Individuals will be having a conversation lasting for 15-20 minutes with an examiner on various topics.

IELTS Syllabus 2024

The syllabus for IELTS 2024 is not something specific. If you look closely at the exam pattern, you will see that all of them are skill-based. You need to enhance your writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills.

How Many Students Appeared for IELTS in 2023?

Around 3 million people appear for IELTS each year and 2023 was no different. To be honest, the numbers will rise in 2024 for sure as students are more open to immigration nowadays.


IELTS 2024 Response Sheet/Answer Key

Students can request the answer key or the response sheet through the official website within 40 days after the test. After that, the answer key will no longer be available. The option to challenge the answer key is not available in IELTS.


IELTS 2024 Exam Centers

Candidates are free to choose their exam centers as per their preference while booking the test. If you don’t find your city in the list, you can choose any nearest city.
