Management Aptitude Test (MAT)

All India Management Association yearly conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) which is a standard aptitude test used for admissions to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and allied programs by over 600 business schools across India. The exam is being conducted in India since the year 1998. 
MAT score can be used as an input for admission in any national or international business school.

Eligbility criteria

Final year students of any undergraduate programs of a recognized college/university or graduates of any discipline are eligible to apply for Management Aptitude Test (MAT).

Mode of Test

There are three modes of testing available in MAT (Management Aptitude Test) :

1. Paper-based test(PBT)

FEES: 1550/-

2. Computer-based test (CBT)

FEES: 1550/-

3.Both Paper-based and Computer-based test (PBT and CBT)

FEES: 2650/-

Essential documents required during registration

  1. A valid E-mail Id
  2. Clearly scanned image of your photograph (50 to 100kb)
  3. Clearly scanned image of your signature (10 to 25kb)
  4. Net banking or Credit card/ Debit Card details for payment purposes

Exam Pattern

The nature of MAT is objective type and is designed to check a candidate's general aptitude skills.

Marks allocation:

  • 1 mark for each correct answer
  • -0.25 for each wrong answer
  • 0 marks for questions not attempted

Exam Syllabus

SECTION A: Language Comprehension

Verb, noun, pronoun, adjective, adverb, speech, sentence making and correction, antonyms, synonyms, one-word substitution, idioms, phrases, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, fill in the blanks and para jumble.

SECTION B and C: Quantitative Aptitude and Data Analysis and Sufficiency

Time, speed, distance, ratios and proportion, HCF and LCM, in-equations quadratic and linear equations, averages, number system, algebra, geometric progression, partnership, geometry including lines, angles, triangles, rectangles, cube and cones, work and time, profit and loss, percentages.

SECTION D: Critical Reasoning and Intelligence

Family tree, course of action, arrangement, pie chart, calendars, statement conclusions, strong arguments and weak arguments, puzzles, series, blood relations, coding and decoding, column graphs, multi-dimensional arrangements, visual reasoning, numeric grid, critical reasoning, syllogisms, and graphs representing area.

SECTION D: Indian and Global Environment 

Current affairs, top officials of big companies, punch line of companies, important quotations, sports, science, world records, famous awards and prizes, history, social issues, finance, entertainment, business, books and authors, international organization, geography, major corporate news, and politics.

Additional information

  1. MAT's score is valid for 1 year
  2. There is no age bar.
  3. No job experience is required to apply for MAT
  4. All major cities across India conduct MAT
  5. The scorecard is released during the last week of the month of the test on AIMA's website
  6. MAT is conducted 4 times a year
